Rhapsody: Cafe Facilities

Went a restaurant with my buddy LOK that we didn't visit since diploma or higher dip. The restaurant called Green Hut, located along the jalan Tan Cheng Lock and opposite of the Kota Raya (at 1st Floor).

The shop didn't change much. The tables and seats arrangement are same. The menu looks familar too. The special thing of this shop is they allowing you to write on their wall. Lotsa people contribute with their creativity drawing or words. it could be fun if you read them one by one. The drawings or words may extended by other person and added another kind of funny elements (but some are failed to do so).

While we waiting for the food, we start chating and talk about what you would provide in cafe if you open one. Hey, this is fun of start throwing the idea without stress or responsibility. Simply sharing with no limit modal.

First thing mentioned was setup a chat system within the cafe. Customer can bring their laptop and connected to the LAN and only the LAN user able to join the chat system. What so special about a chat system? wookie, we'll setup a big and HD LCD at the center of the cafe. we will install a few of them so it cover every angle meaning everyone in the cafe able to view it. It is something like the LCD that hang above the basket ball court if you do watch NBA.

Understanding some people which are daring in expressing, they will use the system for chat or kill time while having their meal or coffee. hey~ they may use the chat system to flirt each other from different table. who know it may "process" some couple out. haha. Hope the system will result some regular chatter and it does in maintaining the business, right? Thus UI of the system gotta be interesting but we do reserve space for chating pane and of cuz advertisement. how can we let go any earning opportunity? By considering web as the best resources out there, we will do the chat system in web based.

Now we talk about the LCD. It is a big waste if we use it for chat. we gotta think something else to utilise the LCD to the max. Wookie, i remember i watched a japanese series drama when i was in secondary school. The gal leave the message to a large electronic board to the guy that she admire. Hey, this seems romantic right? Thus, we allow who are connected to the LAN able use the cafe system to leave message. They can even set what time and which date to show the message. Its like song dedication! The message can be form text and image or video! they can use their cellphone transfering the message to the system. Sharing is caring!. The purpose of just allowing the cafe customer to enjoy the system to attract their visit to the shop. We're talking about the business. haha!

Actually there alots more that we've chatted (indicated the restaurant took long time to deliver the food), I'll share them next time :)

I've just attended a meeting. Maybe it will be the last meeting. I'm feeling quite bad of that we didn't work out something in last year. Although the objectives set is met but don't feeling cheer about it (cause the target is low).

Unsteady income brought a lot of inconvenience to life. You can't support your family, even your own self. your mood will turn bad and sour face always. I apologized for those if I've offended. I'm sorry and I'm trying to control my emotion now onward. It'll take a little bit of time.

I stills remember few years back that KW suggested to run some business together at the mamak drinking session (yum cha lah). I was exciting but run a company is not easy especially noob like us which don't have business study background at all. Somehow we managed to setup the help with a lot of advises and helps given by friends. I appreciate their help. TQ!

Things are not really smooth as we always meet some repetitively problems which are difficult in solving. Resources are always not sufficient to contribute in our own idea. It's like a blindly busy year for us. Our own project got no time to develop and as time goes by, we have seen many other similar projects popping up at web. We're losing competence yet the issues faced remaining unsolved.

Somehow we've gained a lot of experience that a precious to me. It does help me grow faster. Hopefully we still can run the business and continue persuade our dream. Bringing BR up on track is one of my resolutions for this year. Alright partner, let's work hard and work out something this year!

Happy new year everybody! Wow, I'm going 26 this year!

Again, another year is end. Lot of people likes to do review of last year such as what they did and have their objectives met. Hmm… I did set some last year but didn't meet most of them. Grr... Feel shame about it. Well, just forget it and looks forward. Things can't change which had became history.

So what you wanna do at year 2009? What's your planning? Have you ever think about it? I am still thinking about it!

Have you ever think to open up a café?

Despite of the modal, how would you design your very own café inclusive of the services provided, interior, food & beverages, location, waitress attires and stuff?

Well, I had thought of these and even spent sometimes to imagine every perspective of my café (if I can open one) but it fade out as I didn't do proper documentation of it. So I decide to rearrange and try hard to write down what are still remaining in my mind.

Okay, let's start off with the café's style. There are a few famous styles in the market where you and I see them every day.

The famous kopitiam style

Woo! When you think of kopitiam, I'm sure Ipoh White Coffee Old Town will pop up first in many people's mind for sure (including me). They are running the franchise very successful with nice & effected marketing strategies. Personally, I'm not fascinated the food & drinks there. The interior is widely copied by other kopitiam too. In sudden, everyone is using the almost the same color as Old Town including the logo and menu. Kinda sick of looking all these and yet there is no outstanding from the rest! Now I'm flooded with a lot of "Old" Started koptiam such as Old Boy Kopitiam, Old Time Kopitiam, Good Gold Time Kopitiam, Old Station Kopitiam, Old Taste Kopitiam and I'm sure there many out there that I didn't listed here.

This "series" coffee shops' main color is brown coffee. They fill the wall and ceiling with dark color. They print wallpaper with some historical places like Ipoh Town, Kuala Lumpur, Malacca and etc.

Tables are made by marble and wood. Waiter & waitress is hired foreigner worker (I don't know what race they are). Some shops are WIFI enabled but some shops are not. Some shops open some plugs socket but some are not (they don't want you sit there long with just ordered a cup of tea perhaps). A lot of youngsters like to gather here before and now even some families too. People are started moving from mamak stalls to kopitiam. Well, they really did it and penetrated Malaysia market. Soley Old Town itself had open up to 100 franchisees. What about the amount of other almost-same fashion shop? I don't know but I think it should be more than I can imagine.

This style of coffee shop is overwhelming the city. I'm sure some of you are getting boring of it already and started looking other instead of it. I'm doing the same but sometime it is still quite nice by enjoying omega boiled egg + steamed bread / Nissin noodle with sausage and egg + White Milk Tea (my personal preference)

Phew!

Take a seat! Before end of year 2008, I’ve decided to create this blog intended to post my thoughts and ideas. i always think that idea that should have no border and it propagate as time goes by. Thus, this blog is to record down whatever crazy thoughts that ever came across my mind.

Well, the blog mainly talk about idea yet i also like to share some other stuff that in my life. So, it will mix with some events or activities that I’ve experienced, photos, video clips and etc. It just simply covered everything. Haha
